Police: SE Portland shooting gang-related:
PORTLAND -- The occupants of a car were able to escape unharmed Sunday when they were targeted in a gang-related shooting in Southeast Portland, police said.
Police were called at about 2:30 a.m. to the report of shots fired in the parking lot of the New Copper Penny, near SE 92nd Avenue and SE Foster Road, according to Lt. Robert King with the Portland Police Bureau.
Witnesses told responding officers the intended target was a red Dodge Charger, which they quickly located several blocks away.
Police then spoke with the occupants of that vehicle, who
said they had been in the car when two men with guns approached them on foot and started shooting at them. They were able to drive away and avoid being hurt, but there were two bullet holes in the car, King said.
Police found approximately 20 shell casings at the scene.
The gang enforcement team was investigating.
